A Sound of Thunder

Touring in support of their recent release, "Out of the Darkness" , A Sound of Thunder made a stop in Nashville Tennessee on May 19th, 2012 at a very quaint venue named The Limit. This headliner show was the first appearance of the Washington D.C. based quartet in the Music City.

The show time for the band's appearance was advertised as 10 p.m. but due to the venue's cancellation of the planned order of the event, 4 bands were slated to play one hour sets instead. Versatility and adaptation was the theme of the night for our heroes of metal as the first 3 opening bands played over their time limits. A Sound of Thunder handled this situation as true champions and true professionals. In fact, they used this extra overage of set time to their advantage in having more time for mental preparation. As the clock reached 1 a.m., A Sound of Thunder hit the stage with all of the passion and energy of a freshly awakened grizzly after hibernation. Frying the crowd's face off with the opening song "Exorcist", the band quickly made the night theirs.

A Sound of Thunder

At this time of the morning, some bands would not even care if they played flawless or not because the crowd is way too wasted to care, but not for A Sound of Thunder. No sir, anything less than 110% is not good enough for this group of brutal banshees.

Even with a slight lack of crowd control, the band stayed focused on the task at hand as they ferociously handed the crowd back their heads on a spike with songs such as "Murderous Horde" and their new single "Kill that Bitch" in which all of the ladies in the crowd were prompted to raise their hands and shout "KILL'ER, KILL'ER"! It was a most awesome moment in Metal. A Sound of Thunder brought their "A" game with these songs and also with other songs like "Out of the Darkness" which is the title track from their new release distributed by Nightmare Records. Other memorable songs of the night were "Night Witch" and "Walls" and they left the crowd with sore necks from massive amounts of head banging.

"Murderous Horde"
"Kill that Bitch"
"Out of the Darkness"
"Walls"
"The Day I Die"
"A Sound of Thunder"

It was also a special night for Jesse Keen as his brother, Aaron Keen, joined the band on guitar for the song "The Day I Die". This song included a great jam session solo and the crowd went nuts. Overall, the set was outstanding and the crowd responded very well to all of the songs. Even so much as to scream for an encore, which the band honored with a full metal rendition of the song "Blood Vomit" from their album, "Metal Renaissance". A Sound of Thunder truly left a great impression on the people of Nashville, Tennessee on this night. Crowd members were quoted as saying "This band totally rocked." and "Such an awesome band has played here tonight."

The only true complaint that could be had was a lack of bodies in the crowd, which seems to be a very disturbing trend at all shows these days. The night ended on a high note with the band signing autographs and selling merchandise to a vast number of show goers which is a great sign that the people were left struck by the awesome metal power of A Sound of Thunder.
